Bodycount - Synopsis -writer Dan Pritchard, art Shaun Lindow.
Bodycount is the life story of Sam Scanlen who has a serious nervous breakdown after the murder suicide of his parents and then becomes basically, a serial killer. He thinks of himself as a vigilante and a one man equalizer working for the common folk to even the score of good against evil.
Sam keeps meticulous records of his targets, putting many hours of research into each of his subjects for death. He often hacks into computer files of personal information on them, conducts investigations under assumed indentities and stalks the targets at close quarters.
After collecting enough data he creates a spreadsheet of pros and cons and decides if, when and the nature of the kill to be conducted. As Sam goes through his life he collects many skills to help him in this work such as martial arts, computer technologies, marksmanship, prosthetics, weaponry and indentity theft.
Always half a step behind is Detective Wendy Ryan who has made a life long investigation of Sam since his first double murder when he was 17 years old. She is often closer than she thinks but also sometimes gets taken off Sam's trail by copycat killers and false leads.
Sam's external appearance and nature change over the course of his life but his core belief of equalizing the score for good honest people whilst ignoring the fact his own catalogue of evil actions is usually far worse than any of his individual targets.
The first arc involves Sam ''working'' in his local area, ''taking his lumps'' as a newb killer and coming to the attention of Detective Ryan. After dispensing with school bullies the Lo twins Sam starts to collate and analyse data for his next kills, before realizing he can never stay in any one area of the city for too long otherwise he will be detected.
